VOP Foundation

The VILLAGE OF PROGRESS FOUNDATION was established in 1990 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization separate from the VILLAGE OF PROGRESS training center. Our reputation is growing as we continue to offer individuals the opportunity to create a "living memorial." The primary purpose of our FOUNDATION is to secure the funds and resources necessary to ensure that the needs of Ogle County’s population with disabilities will be met today and for years to come.

Your gift to our FOUNDATION, no matter how small, will be acknowledged and appreciated. Laid side by side, many small gifts become significant in terms of what we can accomplish on behalf of those needing services. Your gift will qualify as a charitable deduction for income tax purposes.

In 1997, with borrowed money, our Foundation purchased a 58,500 square foot industrial complex and five acres of land immediately adjacent to our training center on Pines Road in Oregon.

The building is named JOHN HERRMANN COMPLEX in honor of a man who was an original Village of Progress Board Member and who remained actively involved with our operations until his death in April, 2000. For more than 30 years, Mr. Herrmann worked tirelessly on behalf of our agency and the men and women receiving services.

Beginning in May 2002, our entire Herrmann Complex was leased by a local industry. The packaging operations now conducted at the site provide our consumers with opportunities for training an possible employment.

The 1997 acquisition of this industrial complex has afforded our Foundation the opportunity to generate revenue for the long term needs of our agency and expand opportunities to individuals of Ogle County who have a disability or who are disadvantaged.
